Our recent contribution to alternative stable state theory and hysteresis

Hysteresis is hard to demonstrate at realistic scales in terrestrial ecosystems. But fortunately, the NSF Long-term Ecological Research Program supports research, like that at Konza Prairie, that can be applied to challenging ecological theory. Here's the abstract from the paper published in Ecology Letters:

Another paper from our Extreme Drought in Grasslands Experiment - effects on root associated fungi

This paper, published in Journal of Ecology, was led by Devon Lagueux when she was an undergraduate at the University of New Mexico! The Abstract says:

The latest from our 20+ year long resource heterogeneity restoration experiment at Konza Prairie
