Michell Thomey wins the Harry Wayne Springfield Scholarship and Alvin R. and Caroline G. Grove Research Scholarship

Every year the Department of Biology at UNM offers a number of competitive awards and scholarships. The Springfield Scholarship is to support a graduate student in pursuit of a research in botany with a focus on ecology, and the Grove Research Scholarship provides graduate students with resources to initiate or continue research projects, and/or to attend conferences to present their research. In addition, Michell received $2500 from the T&E Inc.

Sally Koerner wins the Lynn A. Hertel Graduate Research Award and Sigma Xi UNM Chapter Outstanding Graduate Research Award

Every year the Department of Biology at UNM offers a number of competitive awards and scholarships. The goal of the Lynn A. Hertel Award is to support the research program of a current Biology Department graduate student, thus assisting the student to complete their thesis or dissertation research. This award can be used to purchase research supplies or equipment and to support travel to field sites or to scientific meetings, all activities expected to be part of the student’s graduate research program. Congratulations Sally!

Sevilleta Field Station Receives New NSF Award!

The Sevilleta Field Station just received $95,290 (Don Natvig PI, Scott Collins Co-PI) from the Field Stations and Marine Labs Program at NSF to enhance teaching and reseach capabilities at the UNM Field Station. Funds will be used to purchase lab equipment needed for teaching a field based course on ecological genomics at the Sevilleta and for the purchase of a new LiCOR-6400!
